A journey for the soul: Africa

Reading time: 2min

In this continent, everything began. Our species evolved there, and we are who we are because of all the resources that Homo sapiens found to bring forth its reloaded version: Homo sapiens sapiens.
The vast African savannas, wonderful species, endless herds (for the most part, and let’s hope it remains so), are truly unimaginable adventures.

Home to one of the oldest civilizations: Ancient Egypt! With its spectacular pyramids and the great Nile, one of the main characters of this civilization.

What comes to your mind when you think of Africa?

Based on my experience, I would divide it into four main areas:

Southern Africa: The most extensive and well-known. It is located in the southern hemisphere. It will depend a lot on the time and budget you have for the trip to visit one, two, or even four countries.

East Africa: I admit that I cannot be objective. This area was the first I visited on the continent, and it filled and stole my soul. To clarify a bit more, for millennials it means: The Lion King (I’ll tell you why in another post), it’s the endless savannas we always saw on The Discovery Channel/Nat Geo… it’s the immense jungles like a Tarzan landscape with his gorillas.

Morocco: A country that seems taken from a fairy tale. With its mountains, deserts, food, history, and cities. From mountains to sea. The key words I would use are: One Thousand and One Nights, bazaars like Aladdin’s, snake charmers, Sahara Desert.

Egypt: Anything I could write about Egypt would not do it justice. A country that must definitely be a “must visit.” When I studied archaeology, I wanted to specialize in Egyptology. The key words I would use are: pyramids, camels, Nile River, pharaohs, paradise for divers (and I can’t believe haven’t visite dit yet !).

My goal with this initial post about Africa is to give you a first idea and ground a bit the concept you had about the continent. I know there are many other regions, countries, islands… but the post would be endless.

In summary; if you seek culture, beaches, nature, adventure, and elements that have transcended through time… this is the destination. It has much to offer and is an area that still remains original.
