My story with France

Reading time: 1:30 min

I dare say that, from a very young age, France is one of the first foreign countries we hear about. And that dream of visiting and exploring it always exists during our first trips outside our country of origin.

My first contact with France was through the language. As I mentioned, I first decided to study archaeology; however, after two years, I realized it wasn’t what I was passionate about. While evaluating and deciding which career to start studying again, I had a lot of free time. Since I already knew English, I decided to enroll in the Alliance Française in Lima… to distract myself.

While studying Tourism Management, the career that finally “clicked” with me, I decided to do a student exchange. So I went for a semester to Paris to study at an École de commerce (Business School). This period definitely improved my French level exponentially.

Upon returning to Lima, and being about to finish my university degree, I started working for Air France Peru at Jorge Chávez Airport in Lima. That very year, 2011, Air France was returning to Peru after many years.

Then, during my professional career, I had several opportunities to return to France. And without a doubt, it was a country that I loved. Did I ever think I would permanently reside in France? Honestly, no. I loved, and still love, traveling, and France was one of my favorite destinations. But I must confess that I was already very happy in my country.

As I told you before, fate made my life partner French. After a long-distance relationship, we got married in 2023, and at the beginning of 2024, I moved permanently to France.

Do I like life in France? The truth is, yes. It’s a country with a lot of history, landscapes, exquisite gastronomy. I think it’s one of the few countries that could have made me decide to live far from my Peru.
